Mid-week Stupidity Div (Orange menace subsection)

In 2009, Fourth of July fireworks at the Mt Rushmore National Memorial were suspended. The Black Hills National Forest was in the grip of the Pine Beetle infestation which was killing trees at an unprecedented rate and increasing the fire danger.
Well, the beetles are gone (they'll be back in 25 years or so) and fireworks will once again commence at the Memorial on July 4th of this year.
Previously fire suppression crews had to be stationed in the adjacent areas to put down the blazes triggered by the display. The chemicals associated with the fireworks also have impacted the soil and groundwater.
Anyhow, yesterday, Stable Jenius announced that he might possibly attend this year's display (Please, please don't let this happen).
He did mention that no one knew why they were terminated and went on to observe, “What can burn? It’s stone. Nobody knew why.”
So much for the sanity absent in the Oval Office. I'm not even sure that IMPOTUS could find South Dakota on a map.
Hopefully, by July Fourth, no one will want to see him.

Our esteemed Preznit in Chief (and admitted "pussy grabber")  has signed a proclamation making April  NATIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS AND PREVENTION MONTH.

Seems like one in the gaggle of incompetent, morally challenged, ethically deficient, rubes surrounding Kim Il Don have stepped on their schlong yet again. Now, Gentleman Jeff has started to flail around to figure out a way to avoid perjury charges and the honor of being the second appointee to "spend more time with his family."

Some of the problem probably could have been avoided if the transition team had let the contract for ethics training .... but no, Trump U wasn't referenced in the curriculum.

Of course, much of the problem stems from the nature of the very people who were appointed in the first place. Hmmmm let's see: an Education Secretary without any experience in public schools -as either a student, parent, teacher or administrator. Housing Secretary whose only qualification is that he once lived in a house in Detroit. An Energy Secretary who wanted to eliminate the department and didn't know what its primary function was.A Director of HHS who wants to take away healthcare and  who engaged in insider stock trading and possible manipulation while a member of Congress. A Transportation Secretary married to that idiot Mitch McConnell, who gutted the Labor department in her eight years with the W administration. A Secretary of Commerce who made his bones as a "vulture capitalist." The EPA Administrator was in the pocket of the extraction industry while in Oklahoma and is openly hostile to the Agency's work and a climate change denier. A (now withdrawn) Labor secretary who hated workers, hired undocumented domestics and was possibly a wife-beater. We have a Secretary of State with no foreign policy or diplomatic experience. Then we have nominees for the Army and Navy who have withdrawn, a National Security Advisor who was a liar (and was fired by President Obama), and his replacement who was rebuked by the Army in 2015 for his handling of a sexual assault case.

Sessions is in a class by himself. Described by one blogger as. "... a walking scandal, a demented disgusting pile of garbage regularly mislabeled a "human" in news stories."  You can draw your own conclusions.

Of course, we have the nodding compliance and cooperation of the US Senate and their inability to choose country over party, but then again, that's what it means to be a Republican these days. In a normal, sane world, this aggregation of dimwitted dolts, thieves, and political hacks would have been sent packing before they even came up for a vote.

This is just a bit of the mess created so far. There's little said about the appalling sloth of even nominating executives to fill the over 500 positions requiring Senate confirmation (Deputy Director, Assistant Deputy Assistant Director and so on) ... and many of the choices have been nixed because of hurt feelings on the part of Kim, his family or the nefarious leeches (Bannon, Priebus, Conway, Spicer) attached to this ship of fools.

Ah well, FREEDOM !!

Election Div (more from the Aftermath subsection)

I'm feeling less worse than I was yesterday - amazing what ten hours of sleep after being awake for forty hours will do.
Several reads this morning helped me begin to regain my perspective. First this (I've omitted the authors's name, but you can find it via this link if you really need to go there):

Today is Nov. 9. Last night there was an astonishingly beautiful sunset here: it reminded me that I have loved living in South Dakota.

The election, which apparently was not “rigged,” is over. Many millions of people voted for the Republican candidate. The house first lived in by John Adams will be home to someone who does not read and distrusts science. The person who called our military a “disgrace” will be commander in chief. The leader of the free world will be someone known the world over for his vulgarity and greed. We survived WWII and will have an anti-Semite in the White House. Our diplomatic relationships with other countries are in danger. My teenage daughter is weeping. The people who voted for him, and the people who did not bother to vote, will have the president they want.

But there is good news. The democracy my ancestors fought for works. And provided Mr. Trump does not have himself declared Emperor, it will work again four years from now. Meanwhile, I look forward to the apologies from the people who have so little respect for our electoral system that they called it “rigged.” That will be sweet."

Seems like many of the "learned, leading lights" of the Republican party have taken yet another step in wholeheartedly embracing the concept of freedom to do whatever, eh ? Science be damned - and common sense also.

Even better here's another that wants to take it one step further down the road to oblivion. Frankly, I wouldn't shake his hand either. Next, he'll probably propose a law limiting lawsuits by those sickened or killed - just gotta have that tort reform ya know.
Here in South Dakota, that's had an affect on those injured by medical malpractice. Easy, eh ? No lawyer, no lawsuit.

Seems that the concept of freedom taken to it's logical end is quite hazardous, eh ?

Just occurred to me dep't  - -  What if they came up with a vaccine for stupid ??

The inmates win ........ Div

No, this isn't about the insanity down there in the GWTP. I'll let Jon Talton over at Rogue Columnist do that.
This morning I roll out of the rack, hit start on the java machine, wind Mr. Stephens and open up the laptop sound system ...... sorry, no music. Huh ?? Try several times, nothing except "You are not connected to the internet." WTF, over ???
Try iPad ... nope. Go downstairs and try the machine connected by wire. Nope again. Reboot the server or whatever that box is called ...... (did you guess?) No again.
Finally call Verizon on the cell phone (the landline is tied to the fiber optic) and get a notification that there's an outage in my area. OK, I can live with that.

Go for a walk, run errands, get a haircut, come home and lo and behold, it's working !!!!
When I go down to check the e-mail, there's one from Verizon telling me there's been an outage that may affect my internet, e-mail and/or phone service. Huh ??? They also tell me that they will notify me of future outages by ...... wait for it ....... e-mail.

YGTBSM !!!! There's someone out there that's being seriously overpaid.

The other day, I had to change the cell service. The Goose Girl had been the primary so I had to restart the service. We were getting a discount because I was a veteran. When I switched the service, I asked if I still got it, showed my retired ID and the kid nodded his head.
Then I start getting e-mails and phone messages and texts that I need to revalidate my 'employment' for the discount. I finally get to some on-line chat where they ask if "retired military" means that I'm a veteran ??? Finally today, I get connected with a real person that gives me the info I need. Tells me that the people at the stores haven't been adequately trained (the only thing they can do is sell you a phone  - -  everything else earns an internet address or phone ## that directs you to a website !!! What insanity.

Enturprenturarial hint # 1: if starting a business, employ real people.
hint #2: train them.

Well, the inmates have finally made their takeover of the asylum that's Congress official.

It isn't enough that they want to repeal a law legally passed, but they want their whole rejected agenda included as the price of not trashing the country's economy and threatening to trash that of the whole free world. What's next guys ?? Firing on Ft Sumpter ???
Come 1 October, looks like you aren't going to be able to sign up for Social Security, Medicare, or VA benefits; but you'll still have to take your shoes off at the airport and maybe get felt up.

Of course, it's all the fault of that socialist, Kenyan, usurper that's illegally occupying "our" White House (did I mention that the guy's a Nig**** ??).

I just gotta wonder why it hasn't occurred to these rubes that they really are insane ??

There seems to be no end to the stupidity that abounds out there. It's not bad enough that the python is an ever increasing menace to wildlife in Florida; that now idiots are giving them away as prizes in contests. It makes even less sense when the contest is pretty gross and ends up killing you.

Maybe they should have just let his prize eat him, eh ???    ( I didn't bother to include the photo of the fully-grown deer removed from this guy - the snake that is).

Been over a week now of being back in the United States of Reality and listening to all the printed pundits discussing the autopsy of the election and selecting just which bits of the pathology caused the demise of the Republican Party  (of course, there are some out there who say they really won, us normal folk just can't see it yet.).
But , why am I still receiving the various and sundry e-mails about stuff that didn't seem to pan out so far.

With all the wailing and gnashing of teeth (not to mention the sackcloth and ashes) by Republicans over the election of that Kenyan, Communist, Muslim,  a woman in Arizona seems to have arrived at a better solution.  Despite her husband's lack of civic participation, Romney won there anyhow.

Well, Well .... looks like the business of population control has certainly taken a turn for the better down there in Texas. Suddenly, the state has about 80,000 fewer adult residents (and those are just the registered voters). If they do an accurate count we may learn that no one really lives there. I wonder if their Congressional delegation should be cut by one congresscritter ????

Registrars are sending out letters to the newly deceased and telling them to reply if it ain't so. I'm sure they are rising from the graves pleading for "BRAINS" and hoping they have enough spit left to lick a stamp. Perhaps the plaintive cries are a plea for their elected representatives and officials to acquire some ...... but since so many are Republicans ................

If they really aren't dead (maybe only pretending, eh ??) then they can still show up to vote. But if they're dead, and their name has been purged, how will they get past the poll guardians ?? Hint: if you're a Republican, then  ..... "HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST ... a friggin' miracle, he's alive."
