Geography Div (historic things subsection)

Today in 1927 (well in France anyway) Charles Lindberg completed the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Thus establishing the rule that all times on airline schedules are local (heh).

Coincidently, on this same date five years later (1932) Amelia Earhart completed the first Atlantic solo by a woman. (Newfoundland - Ireland)

Vision Div (Founding Fathers subsection)

So many folks are always going around quoting the "Founding Fathers" (usually those on the right of the political spectrum). Here's one for any and all to ponder:

“When it shall be said in any country in the world,’ my poor are happy, neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners; my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want; the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend because I am a friend of its happiness’; when these things can be said, then may that country boast its constitution and its government.”

Geography Div (Had the flu yet ? subsection)

The past season was pretty rough for the flu -- I had it and I'd gotten vaccinated. This representation sort of jumped out at me since I live in South Dakota. Naturally, we don't have a million people, so naturally the rate is pretty high. (We also have only one area code, but two time zones and, one would think one political party).
