Nice instrumental by Sierra Hull and her band, Highway 111. Hopefully, I've gotten the musicians correct. She seems to go through band members faster than fresh strings. Unfortunately the "Band" tab on her blog features only a picture of the young lady herself (couldn't find a bandmember's name on the entire site).
Sierra Hull - Mandolin, Zach Gilmer - Banjo, Christian Ward - Fiddle, Jacob Eller - Bass.
Clay Hess plays Guitar but has since been replaced by Jake Stargell.
I suspect that, as with Sarah Jarosz, she has some people she plays out with when there's nobody else but whenever possible grabs whoever's in the local vicinity to play with her. I.e., my suspicion is that if you saw her in three different cities, you'd see three different bands.
ReplyDeleteThing about talented youngsters like this, the older experienced folks don't see them as a threat, they see them as the next generation that's going to take over once the old timers retire or die, and see it as their job to help foster that talent. So Sierra and Sarah rarely have trouble finding people willing to play with them. Bluegrass is such a nicer genre of music people-wise than rock'n'roll, where it's all dog-eat-dog and backstabbing is the norm, not the exception...
Very nice performance by Sierra and company. It's also great to see Clay Hess with the band. I really liked his playing with Kentucky Thunder years back.
